Saturday Sessions: Reply with Video

Happy Saturday!

Quick one today - promise…

There’s an opportunity happening right now that I want to make sure you know about.

Oh, and see below for a cool idea I’ve got that helps me help you help me help you…etc.

If you are trying to build an audience for your business or project it can sometimes be hard to get everything off the ground. Making content when you have 12 followers (including your mum) is a bit disheartening.

Having an audience though is super super (super) important nowadays and makes launching a project much easier. You’ve heard me blab enough about that so I won’t go on.

Every once in a while a new platform or format drops where it is VERY easy to get reach and growth fast.

This just happened on Wednesday. Something opened up.

This. Will. Not. Last.

I’d give it a couple of weeks tops. But that’s enough time to do some damage and get your audience kickstarted.

Here’s the announcement:

Basically you can now react directly to posts on Twitter/X using video.

Here is an example of my first one:

That’s currently sitting at 21,000+ views. I have another at 50k. And combined approaching 200k.

Important!

I haven’t been posting on Twitter for over a year. The account is basically dormant. So this from nowhere:

Pretty conclusive!

Why?

Well, whenever a platform releases a feature they (unsurprisingly!) want it to work. So they adjust their algorithms to unfairly boost this sort of content into the stratosphere. This gives is a little breathing room to see whether it’s something they’ll keep or not. Better that than dead on arrival.

This means that you have a short interval to take advantage and get some disproportionate rewards.

It seems to work really well on Twitter because most people don’t want to show their face! Great news.

How to do this? Nice and simple:

  • find a post you want to give thoughts on

  • tap retweet/share

  • select Reply with Video

  • shoot a short video greenscreened over the original tweet

Importantly that videos goes up as a reply to the original post AND as an individual post on you profile. So it becomes a content asset.

We can (and should) download that video and post it on Instagram, Tiktok, Youtube Shorts etc etc.

Another bonus - any views on your video reply also count towards the original poster. So if your video kicks off it helps the original poster. Great news if you want to get on their radar and build a relationship.

Or, if you sneaky…post yourself and then REPLY to yourself with a video reply and it’ll boost the original post. I’ve tried this and it works a treat!

As you can tell I’m playing around and experimenting with this! Still working it out!

And I want to propose a deal!

If you post to Twitter and tag me in with a question I’ll do a video response on it. And that’ll boost your own post and help your account. Especially helpful if a brand new account.

And then if you are feeling spicy you can video reply my answer. And so it goes!

So: shoot me questions there on anything AI or entrepreneurship. What tools do I use? How would I build such and such a project? Favourite resources?

Or anything else. Favourite sci-fi books? What video games am I playing right now? Top horror films? Go nuts. I’m https://x.com/iamkylebalmer over there.

To the Task,

Kyle
