Saturday Sessions: aaaand it's broken

I’ll consider this a win and a lose.

Over the past months I’ve been exhorting people to start vibe coding. To get started with AI Studio or Lovable or even the big daddy Claude Code.

And it’s happening!

In my live calls and the Whatsapp group I’m hearing every day about people’s projects.

Me not shutting up about this stuff is paying off! 😅 

But then…Claude broke.

For anyone who has been using Claude, Cowork or Code this week it’s been a rough few days.

Lots of downtime. Lots of hitting limits. Lots of frustration.

Finally the Claude team broke their silence and gave us the skinny of what’s up:

That’s a very fancy way of saying “yo, we’re throttling you, get used to it”. Yikes.

So…if you’ve found this week frustrating I want to make sure you aren’t sleeping on Codex.

Codex is ChatGPT’s version of Claude Code. And it’s very very good.

I said as much in the Whatsapp and (maybe rightfully!) got called out:

It does indeed look like I’m trying to get you all off of Claude again so I can use it without limits! 🤣 That’s not the case though I swear!

For real - Codex (especially in its App form, download it here : Codex App.) is VERY VERY good.

I’m not a huge fan of OpenAI’s recent models and primarily use Claude’s models. But OpenAI’s Codex model and harness are really good.

Also limits are much much (much) more generous that Claude’s. It’s actually usable on $20/month unlike Claude Code which will push you to $100/month and even then you’ll hit limits…gulp…

Plus to capitalise on Claude’s misfortunes this week OpenAI just reset everyone’s limits…

I love a bit of petty competition. Especially when it means I get more coding usage!
