AI with Kyle Daily Update 084

Today in AI: Siri powered by Google Gemini + $1000 free Claude credit

The skinny on what's happening in AI - straight from the previous live session:

Highlights

šŸ“± Sora Finally Hits Android (But Still Geographic Lock-In)

Sora launches on Android in US, Canada, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam. Still locked out of EU/UK. No invite codes needed in approved regions (temporary offer so don’t wait! ).

Kyle's take: Classic OpenAI staggered rollout - iOS only for weeks, now Android but still geographically limited. If you're in EU/UK, tough luck!

However uou can still use the browser version at sora.chatgpt.com/explore with an invite code (check my Sora Code Guide).

If you're in approved regions, grab an account NOW before they reinstate invite codes.

šŸŽ Apple Chooses Google Over Claude for Siri (Budget Option?)

Apple selecting Google Gemini over Anthropic Claude for next Siri update (Spring 2026). Apparently Google offered better financial deal - under the rumoured $1.5b/year Anthropic requested.

Kyle's take: This is disappointing and baffling. Apple has massive cash reserves but they're taking the budget option? They need to blow people's socks off, not penny-pinch.

Claude is arguably the best model in the world. Gemini's good but I wouldn't choose it over Claude or ChatGPT. After ~14 years, they're finally updating Siri from NLP to a proper LLM, but they're not even buying the best model…

This reinforces my worry that Apple isn't taking AI seriously enough. Maybe they know something we don't, but I'm worried for them.

šŸ’³ Claude Code Web: Free $1000 Credits (Use by Nov 18th!)

Claude giving free credits: $250 for $20/month users, $1000 for $200/month users. Must use by November 18th. I’ve got $1000 I need to spend FAST!

Yes please!

Kyle's take: I've used $15 in one night - still have 99% of my $1000 left! This is free money, use it NOW.

Claude Code is their coding tool - similar to Lovable but you need to connect a GitHub repo first which makes it a little less beginner friendly. After that it's just chatting. If you've never vibe coded, this is your chance with free credits.

I'll write a full guide for Saturday's newsletter on how to i) get started and ii) maximise these credits. This is probably the best coding model/tool available right now. Don't let these expire - you've only got 12t days!

āš–ļø Amazon vs Perplexity: The Agent Wars Begin

Amazon sends legal threats to Perplexity over Comet agent not identifying itself when visiting Amazon’s site. Funnily enough the same day Amazon signs $38B deal with OpenAI. And ChatGPT’s agent doesn’t seem to be blocked by Amazon's robots.txt whilst Perplexity is. HMM!

Kyle's take: The timing is no coincidence - Amazon partners with OpenAI then immediately threatens Perplexity? I checked Amazon's robots.txt: Perplexity blocked, Claude blocked, Gemini blocked, but ChatGPT’s ā€œuser" agent NOT blocked. It feels like Amazon are picking sides.

Now for sure, Perplexity's being sneaky - pretending their agent is human instead of declaring itself. But this is the new battlefront: should agents have free reign of the internet?

Agents can do competitive research, undercut prices, strategic advantage. Existing businesses want to block them. We've had robots.txt for decades to control crawlers - now it's about AI agents. The internet needs to work out how to handle non-human users. This give-and-take will be fascinating to watch.

The bigger story here though may be (and this is speculative) that Amazon and OpenAI are prepping to work together to dominate AI shopping online.

Member Question: "I just did my first AI workshop at charity. What percentage of charities give testimonials?"

Kyle's response: All of them if you ask! Keep asking. When I do charity workshops pro bono, I say upfront: "Normally I charge £1000/hour, I won't because you're a charity, but I'd like a review, testimonial, and photo in return. Cool?"

Make it part of the transaction upfront - "I'm doing this free but would like this in return, is that fair?" If you set expectations upfront, you'll get 100% compliance generally. Just go back and keep asking until you get that testimonial!
