Highlights

🎬 Sora 2: Actually Worth the Hype?

OpenAI dropped Sora 2 - a standalone TikTok-style app for AI video. I got access yesterday morning and have been playing around with it.

After complaining yesterday about Sam Altman wanting billions to cure cancer then releasing an "AI slop generator," I have to eat my words. It’s good… The quality is insane with minimal prompting, and the killer feature? You can put yourself and your friends in videos with permission-based "cameos."

Kyle's take: This genuinely feels like a ChatGPT moment for video. Not because of the tech (we've had good video models), but because of the social element. You can create inside jokes, tease your mates, make memes of each other. That changes everything.

It's not just generating random AI videos - it's creating content that actually means something to your social circle. This could be the killer feature.

Yes, it could become brain rot. Yes, it's burning GPU resources on entertainment. But it still feels like a solid launch that may (unlike the other video apps) not peter out immediately.

🌍 How to Get Sora 2 Outside the US (It Works)

Sora 2 is US/Canada only and iPhone only

Not in the US? Or on Android not iPhone? Here's the workaround:

  1. Turn on a VPN set to USA

  2. Go to sora.chatgpt.com in a web browser (the App Store app won’t work)

  3. Sign up and use an invite code

This lets you circumvent the geo-lock. But you won’t have access to the cameo feature as that’s app only. I couldn't add my likeness (that's app-only), but otherwise full access.

The web version works perfectly. Every new user gets 4 invites, so codes are proliferating quickly. By the time you read this, finding an invite should be easy. Just remember: desktop only, VPN to US, web version not app. Worth the hassle - I was skeptical until I tried it, now I'm converted.

🎭 That "AI Actress" Outrage is Completely Fake

Particle Six is pushing their "AI actress" Tilly Norwood everywhere, claiming backlash and outrage. The BBC and other outlets are covering this supposed “outrage”. Nobody actually cares - it's manufactured PR.

Kyle's take: All the coverage of Tilly Norwood reads the same. It feels like a press release sent out to news outlets that has been rehashed. It’s a smokeshow of fury when no-one genuinely cares.

Why? To push the creators and their AI star. Go check “her” Instagram reels. Top video has 475k views and 800 likes - 0.17%? Smells like fake botted engagement to me. It’s all smoke and mirrors.

And these muppets just woke up to a world where anyone with Sora 2 can make themselves an AI Hollywood star. Their "unique" AI production studio just became obsolete overnight. Ruh-roh. Studios like this are about to get blown out of the water - the tools of production just got democratised to 700 million ChatGPT users.

Member Question: "Do you have experience building AI-based apps?"

Kyle's response: Yes, but I'm not a software developer - I'm a business owner who teaches digital marketing. I'm on day 23 of building and launching an app in 30 days, one hour per day. The plan: build proof of concept, launch to my 250k audience, if it works hire real developers to rebuild it properly.

That's what Jason Levin did with MemeLords - built it badly on Bubble, proved the market, raised $3 million, immediately hired developers. Vibe coding isn't about building perfect software (I can’t anyway!), it's about proving ideas before investing real money. Super exciting for entrepreneurs.
