🚨 ChatGPT Gmail Integration Has Massive Security Hole

Security researcher Eito Miyamura discovered that ChatGPT's new Gmail integration can be hijacked with just your email address. An attacker sends you a calendar invite with a jailbreak prompt embedded - you don't even need to accept it. When you ask ChatGPT to help with your calendar, it reads the malicious invite (and the prompt hidden in it) and starts sending your private data to the attacker.

Kyle's take: This is exactly why I said wait and see when they launched this feature a few week’s back! The hack is stupidly simple - no technical expertise needed, just send a calendar invite with the poisoned prompt.

If you've connected ChatGPT to your Gmail I’d recommend disconnecting it NOW. This is unfortunately what happens when companies prioritise being first over being safe.

🎓 Google's Demis Hassabis: "Learn How to Learn or Get Left Behind"

Speaking at an ancient theatre beneath the Acropolis in Athens, DeepMind CEO and Nobel laureate Demis Hassabis warned that AGI could arrive within a decade. He emphasised that "learning how to learn" will be the critical skill as AI transforms every industry.

Kyle's take: Hassabis is spot on - we have no idea what skills will matter in 10 years. The only certainty is massive change.

But here's what he didn't say: you need control over your income NOW. If you're relying on a cushy corporate job, you're vulnerable. Even mainstays like McKinsey and big banks will get disrupted (and they know it).

Start something on the side - consulting, workshops, a small SaaS. Not saying quit your job, but having something (anything!) you personally control gives you flexibility when your company decides "we're not touching AI" and goes under.

🍎 EU Blocks Apple's Live Translation Feature

Apple's new AirPods live translation feature - supporting French, German, Portuguese, Spanish and English (for now) - won't work if you're in the EU with an EU Apple account. The EU's AI Act and GDPR regulations mean Apple needs regulatory approval before enabling real-time translation services.

I couldn’t help it. The memes are too good.

Kyle's take: This is the Babel fish from Hitchhiker's Guide - instant translation in your ear. But of course the EU blocks it in the one place that actually needs it most - a continent with dozens of languages!

The EU employs thousands of translators who are probably dead against this technology too...so don’t expect a sympathetic ear (har har).

Meanwhile Apple Intelligence has been such a disappointment that this could be hilariously bad anyway - someone says "hola" and it translates to "get f*cked." We'll find out this week when it rolls out!

Member Question from Andrew: "How do you combat the point when you go from excitement to roadblock when building?"

Kyle's response: Everyone hits that wall where the magic dies and you're stuck debugging authentication for hours.

Here's my process: First, don't just tell the AI "fix it" - that never works. After 2-3 attempts, it's making spaghetti code. Instead: grab the console errors from Chrome inspector, paste them into Claude (not your Vibe tool), and ask for three potential diagnoses. Take the best solution back to Lovable.

Most people quit at roadblocks - that's good for those of us who push through! Thins out the competition!
